happy thanksgiving everyone! hope everyone eats a lot of good food while vegging in front of the telly. hee hee. i miss vegging so much.
while i was driving home from work i was calculating how i spent my day and how much of it is spent at work. i am in the office for about 10 hours so that leaves 14. then it takes me 2 to get to and from work and 1 to get ready. so i'm down to 11. then 7 to 8 to sleep... erm, down to 3 to 4. 1 hour to eat dinner. crap. hardly any time...
i'm sure most of you who have been working for quite awhile now have already come to this realisation. ((sigh))
alright, so i have been chatting with coworkers and friends and they have been saying how they plan to go shopping this weekend. is it just me or is that crazy talk? madness i tell you! do people just like to subject themselves to torture? see, i'm taking the easy route and shopping at mom and pop discount stores. who doesn't like kitschy, tacky items... like plastic molds of birds? hey new wave i'm being sarcastic and looking in your direction.

i should be asleep now but eh ....
i was talking to my coworker today about the holidays and christmas and discovered she celebrates it like darth and nick with the whole "whiteness cheese ballish" and i'm thinking hey but she is asian and stuff ... shouldn't she be deprivated of presents, a tree, santa and so on .... then slowly i realized "wait no it is only my family" (pigern i'm looking your way) who does this ... it use to really bug me growing up but as i got older i just hated everything so i didn't even care anymore but a childhood with that whole "whiteness" feel to it would have been nice .....
i really don't like some of my coworkers by the way ... they are such tards ... blech
oh the person in the ad was chia chia pet ... those from brightwood know who i'm talking about and sorry to the other members of the house for this whole inside joke/story thing ...

a Vaseline ad? hmmm i have no clue. my guesses would either be kaigee or ryan, just cause they were on tv shows and what not. hmmmm nick? i would've guessed that you would say the same thing. i think you know those two guys, don't you? hahaha. plus i didn't even go there and i'm still not a crustacean because that was what i was most likely to be. wtf?
hey y'all....yes, i know i've gone MIA for a while. but not as bad as juwanna. i really don't have anything to say about the encore thing so i won't. darth: you're welcome. please don't do that ever again :) but that was pretty funny that you were "attempting" to study for your GRE. Pigern: i'm sorry about UCLA's loss. ha ha. that was mean. btw, did you ever take the olympic to los angeles street route to get home? how did that work out? new wave: i'm wondering who could be in the Vaseline ad cuz you know everyone that came from brightwood is ugly and bitchy. ha ha. and how would mac even remember someone from brightwood? right pigern?
anyway, i'm tired, tired, and little more tired on the side. it's been a weird couple of days. i'm sorry to rub this in everyone's face (those of you that work full-time), but i can't wait for december. i think i have more days off in december than i actually have to work :) i know you are scrunching up your face in disgust, new wave. good times.

i never thought encores would spawn a discussion but i guess it did ...
i came across this ad in the dec 2002 Self mag (pigern gets free copies) for Vaseline Intensive Care Lotion and they used an old classmate of mine as a model ... how funny is that. mac and nick it is someone from brightwood ... can you guess who??? (btw where the heck are you nick edney and juwanna man ... sheesh you guys are all MIA ...)
well the holidays are upon us ... eh i don't care. i hate this time because i feel like a consumer whore and then i feel like helping the needy but then that makes me feel bad because why does it have to be once a year you decide to help others who are less blessed than you are ... shouldn't you do that all year long ... ack it is just depressing is what it is ... and when you help others less blessed than you don't you wonder if they feel like they are getting your pity and that it is taking away from their dignity ... just a thought
music to my ears: exploding boy - alkaline trio and strange - tori amos (sooo good)

i like encores. i think it's a compliment to the band. like, you guys were brilliant. now come back out (even though you are tired) to do just a bit more. come on now ((clap clap))! one of the funniest moments was when i went to see death cab for cutie and the lead singer was deathly ill. so when they finished their set (barely), the audience was like "erm, do we applaud for an encore? we feel bad..." i don't think we made them come back out. the lead singer was vomiting or something.
hm, moving on... thanks for everyone's traffic tips. i have actually been staying at work until 7 p.m. so it makes my mapping techniques moot. but if i ever leave earlier...
f.y.i. i don't like no doubt. i never really did but i like them less with each album. especially the 'underneath it all' tune: "and when it's really bad i guess it's not that bad." who writes that? eight-year-olds! geez.
i would have like to see the distillers. i like their new album.
alright, have a happy thanksgiving and watch out for the windy weather. try not to get blown away.

first off i wasn't presuming anything, although it might seem that way because of the way i typed it. the "no?" should've probably been "or not." so that being put out of the way, i still stand by my words and say encores are lame. i just hope one day people are disappointed when a band doesn't come back out, that would be sweet. hopefully it's at an emo show though, so a flood of tears flows throughout the crowd. i will speak no more on this subject for now.
darth, man you're sweet. i think you're going to get the highest score possible, whatever it maybe on your GRE's. oh ya and darth did you see UCLA beat the crap out of USC, it was kind of like ken shamrock beating the crap out of tito ortiz. and jamal anderson winning the superbowl, what is it like 8 years in a row?

Hey party people, its been a while since i last blogged so i guess i should before i get kicked out. I assumed garbage would put on a better show than no doubt, just cause no doubt seems to be everywhere and i think the hype was too much for them.....A special thanks to nick and juwanna for aiding me in my hour of need. Here are a few pointers for the kids out there 1) don't drink and drive....thats obvious.....2) don't attempt to study for your GRE's while waiting for a ride.......3) Always make sure you have a backup person to pick you up..........Encores are cool, but sometimes they are annoying cause the band takes forever to comeback and the audience has to sit there hollering and clapping and just making noise, its sort of annoying that way, but its cool when they come back out....so I see both of your points.
Mac the Knife, you say, "Just play the damn set thoroughly, and not come back out for an encore, everyone knows its coming. that's just my two cents. but i think you people would agree, no?"
Well, aren't you being a little presumptuous? thinking that we would all agree w/ you about how encores suck. whatever! don't presume
anything about anybody! I'm not saying encores aren't lame or cheesy or that they are the best thing ever, but encores are needed. maybe for psychological purposes, for closure or something, but really, if i saw a band (esp one that i paid a lot of money to see) and they didn't have an encore, i would be like, what's up w/ that? a band can play a solid set, but an encore will still be demanded by the audience. get over it! accept it! yeah, everyone knows it's coming, but that is just how it is. No matter how good you are.
I was at the No Doubt / Garbage show Saturday and did not stay for the encore. Oh well. Knew it was coming, but decided it would be better to beat traffic. I mean, how many times do I have to hear "Spiderwebs?" Nonetheless, good show. Encore or not.

from Scott Adams' Dilbert Newsletter...SO true.
Is there an Induhvidual in your house who doesn't understand that
when you're using a sink you can't hear conversation directed at
you from another room? If so, try this little speech.
My Running-Water Speech:
"I can hear a vague buzzing sound that I believe is you, trying to
talk to me from another room while I am using the sink. Believe it
or not, the physics of sound have not changed that much since the
last fifty times you tried unsuccessfully to yak at me from another
room while I was using the sink. Tomorrow, when you try again, I
will still not be able to hear you over the sound of running water
in the sink."

ok, must blog after the interesting show last nite. of course, shirley and the boys kicked major ass, shirley is soooo cool (and no, i do not sound like a girl). the distillers were cool also, but brody looks like a major druggie and i feared she would fall over and die. and then there was no doubt... the set was alright, or it could have been alright. they are a good band with good songs, but the audience TOTALLY KILLED IT. i mean, they killed my "concert buzzed" that garbage had created. once they came out, the audience went crazy, and not in a good way. too much shoving for the first couple songs, with people trying to get to the front, only to just stand there like bitches, totally no respect for anyone. it was all them, i-know-two-songs-and-own-the-latest-album-so-im-a-fan peeps. not that i was so into the set, and im sure people wanted me to get out of there, but i had my garbage shirt on and there were no ambiguities as to why i was there. anyway, i knew i had withstood the insanity for some reason, because after the "encore", which, yeah, i think is silly. gwen brought out garbage & the distillers and the girls sang blondie's call me, while the boys played, totally awesome. of course, all the kiis-fm/no doubters hadnt a clue what they were singing, but i totally enjoyed it. i was, however upset with myself that i had not saved a couple pics on my camera to take of the girls singing. oh well, lesson learned. so, yeah, garbage needs to tour alone from now on.
oh, and FTC, the blur song, is, um different, yet good, cos its blur, haha.
alright, peace out.
