(M) Ballad Of Jack And Rose (2005, Rebecca Miller)
Grade: Rental or Cable worthy
Jack lives alone with his daughter in a commune designed for an environmental friendly lifestyle. The movie takes place in the 80's. During the 70's a group of people got together to try and live different than the tract home lifestyle in America. Jack was the only person who remained and raised his daughter Rose in isolation.
Jack has been secretly seeing a woman from the main land and brings her and her two sons to the commune to live with him and Rose. Jack is dying and Rose is planning on killing herself when Jack dies. Rose becomes incredibly jealous of Jack's girlfriend. Jack loves his daughter very much but I guess since Jack is all Rose has ever known, she has more than a typical daughter love for her father. Nothing happens between daughter and father but her jealousy creates havoc and problems for those who entered their private world.
The movie was alright, I wanted to see it in the theater but was glad I saved my money and got it as a rental.
