the sigur ros show was v. entertaining. it was like a philharmonic concert, because there was a mini orchestra that played with the band and everyone was seated. to be honest, it was so mellow that i was half asleep during the first half. i don't know if it was because the music is mellow or i was just tired from work. hm...
so i went to the grove on my lunch break to visit barnes and the place is elaborately decorated in christmas themed schlock. the big christmas tree is up and there is a tacky santa riding in his sled with the reindeers and christmas jingles are playing over the loud speakers. okay, first of all, it's november. november! christmas is in december! secondly, the christmas themed surroundings seemed very insincere. the grove people just want you to buy buy buy. all these lame signs about the perfect christmas gift. consumerism hidden behind the pretense of holiday cheer. grrr... plus it was 80 degrees today and gap is selling scarves and mittens. i wonder how well those sales are going.
