I think the controversy is good, the reason behind all of it is that the film sheds a raw light of the last hours of one of the most prolific figures in history. Religous leaders, mainly Jewish, seem to denounce the film, from what I can gather. There are obvious reasons for that, but I think the general public will go see the film for what it is, a movie. What they get out of it, is left to them, whether it be an epiphany, a new view on Jesus, pure entertainment value, and so on. As a believer it has sparked my interest and I will watch the movie, but not solely for that reason.

I'm not sure the intent of which Mel Gibson had for producing this film, in any case I think it is a breath of fresh air from Hollywood, seeing as how everyone in Hollywood seems to follow Scientology. This is an irrelevent point, but there was no controversy when Battlefield Earth was released, it sucked, yes, but it was based on the ideologies of Scientology. There was no religous uproar. What's my point, no point, I just had the urge to restate that I, against my own will, was forced to watch this movie, and am bitter for wasting 2 hours of my life doing so.
you mean you DON'T want to "shake your body body" dorkus?

side note, anyone going to go see "The Passion"...and while I'm at it, what does everyone think about all the controversy?

tonight i went to a short film festival held by RES. it was pretty interesting... kind of reminded me of the events that the film/tv department would hold at ucla. basically, we got to watch some music videos and short films and directors/creators of them discuss and answer questions after the show.
the best part was a lot of the music videos were from artists that i liked. anyway the event is held every month so check it out: RES
how do you think nader will affect the democratic election? only marginally? or significantly?
went to a RES screening today. they showed some interesting video / graphic stuff. my faves were invisible skateborads by rick howard and spike jonze, madvillain - all caps by james reitano, ween - transdermal celebration by adam philips and the japanese tradition: relationships by namikibashi. the last one, the japanese tradition, was hilarlious .... so good.

hey rancid girl .... i heard that sharkees place is suppose to be pretty happening but a bit on the ghetto side and anyways you know slutty girls and creepy guys will do anything to get into some tired bar. ha ha.

sadly i don't watch surreal life so i can't join in that conversation. i'll just spend this rant reviewing stuff cause i'm bored -

movies:
dickie roberts - former child star: 4.5 it was fair ... i think the best part of the whole movie was seeing brendan fraser. i love him :) hee hee. i didn't even know he was going to make a cameo so that was a treat.

starsky & hutch: 5.5 it was okay. no where near as funny as zoolander for me but it had its moments like snoop dogg and vince vaughn.

shows:
no motiv: 6.0 they were solid though they only played less than 10 songs. that was a bit disappointing but they weren't the headlining band so understandable.
Oh man, I watch the Surreal life too. For whatever reason that show is pretty entertaining to me. Talk about a diverse cast of characters (Ron Jeremy, Traci Bingham, RealWorld LV Trishelle, Vanilla Ice, Ponch-Eric Estrada, Tammy Baker)....Boy, I never realized how damn ugly Trishelle and Traci Bingham were.

Anyway, Eric Estrada will always be the shiznit. It was cool when Vanilla Ice started singing his own song at the karoake bar after Trishelle and Traci were killing the song. It inspired me to wanna sing the song when we went karoaking saturday night but the damn place didn't have it in their song book!
YAY! done with my first neuro test!!! it wasn't THAT bad....but we'll see
Dorkus you are so lucky you get to go to Hawaii for work…that’s awesome! It must be cool to have a job that allows you to travel. My job keeps me tied to a desk doing journal entries, spreadsheets and analysis. Fun stuff, blah!
Anyways, I’m excited about my trip to Asia in May. We’re going to Beijing, Hong Kong, Bangkok and Seoul. I have to admit I was a little worried about the Bird Flu at first, but I think it should be okay. Hedwig, TWIFOSLY is it something I should be alarmed about? But I’m planning to buy a karaoke machine while I’m there so when I come back party at my place! =) I know how much you love to karaoke New Wave and Darth!

I was having dinner in Hermosa Beach on Saturday and right beside Sangria is this club called Sharkees. I guess it's a pretty good club/bar because even though the pouring rain.....there was a line of people waiting outside!!! They were all drenched and looked miserable. It was a funny sight.
this past weekend and tonight i have learned a valuable lesson: lactose is evil. i had a chai (and forgot to ask for soy) last saturday and then i had cheese tonight and my stomach felt dreadful. argh! so queasy i couldn't even sleep. evil!

oh man did anybody catch vanilla ice on the surreal life? my life has come full circle now. haha. for those who don't know, he did a karaoke version of ice ice baby. it was beautiful. you know what else is beautiful, the new york yankees lineup for the 2004 season. man what an exciting year for baseball. tee hee. oh joy, i get to drive back up to la today, i hope i hit tons of traffic, that always seems to make my drive up that much more enjoyable. have a good weekend all.

Don't you just LOVE it when you're sick? The aches, the pains, and the chills! it feels WONderful. Not to mention the incessant coughing and runny nose, which can only be topped by the resultant headache!!! Then going to urgent care to get it checked out and waiting for 2 hours?! only to find out that i could have diagnosed myself. AWESOME! woohoo! I love today!
