(M) Darjeeling Limited
Grade: B+

I went and saw this movie last night and I wasn't really even expecting to enjoy it. Nobody seemed to really think to much of it. Also, I did not like the Steve Zisou (sp?) movie. I really enjoyed this movie a lot though. It was great. I'd probably say I liked it as much as Bottle Rockets, maybe more. The short that they showed before the film was very nice too (ahhh, Paris).

Some folks at my office dressed up as Team Zissou for Halloween, which is actually quite easy: blue outfit with red beanie. You just need a group to pull off the gag.

I thought it was quite good until a friend made the point of the main characters (rich, white) looking for spiritual enlightenment in a so-called third world country. Another friend said Anderson doesn't do minorities well. Interesting points.

I didn't have a problem with three rich white men seeking spiritual enlightenment in India. Those are the types who have the money to do such an event so it made it more realistic. Also, those kind of people should seek out something like that rather than the "all mighty dollar".

As far as minorities, when I was watching it I was thinking... there you go Wes... make a movie in the most populated country in the world. Now all the Indian people can go see your American movie that includes Indian people and you can make a shitload of money, what a genius. (And I'm being sarcastic and semi-condemning with that genius statement).
