(M) The Departed
Grade: B-
I found this movie enjoyable but I DO NOT think it deserved Best Picture... though that is an unfair statement as I only saw one of the other nominees. I am curious how the asian film version is and how it ends but I may just ask New Wave for that info. I wasn't expecting much from this movie as I had heard it was over-hyped and so I hoped that not expecting much would make me like it more but I don't think it helped. I give it a C among all of the director's previous work but a B overall because it was enjoyable and I planned on turning it off at midnight to finish later but I was too hooked to stop it so I stayed up until it ended.

well your first mistake was watching the american version first. that being said, i would recommend you see the original asian version. i thought the american version was a pretty good interpretation, but for some reason, i guess alot of things just don't translate over that well. for me i felt more for the characters in the asian version rather than the american one. check it out and see for yourself.

Yeah, B- is pretty harsh. Though it didn't blow me away, it was entertaining and well done.
