An interesting study that was just done about God (or god).

Some exerpts:

42 percent of all U.S. adults say they are not "absolutely certain" there is a God, including 15 percent who are "somewhat certain," 11 percent who think there is probably no God and 16 percent who are not sure.
(this of course means that 58% of Americans are absolutely certain that there is a God.)

America's belief in God is apparently declining...
Three years ago, in an identical survey, 79 percent of adults said they believed in God and 66 percent said they were absolutely certain that there is a God. In this new survey, those numbers have declined to 73 percent and 58 percent respectively.

America apparently believes in a distant God...
Less than one-third of all adults (29%) believe that God "controls what happens on Earth" (this includes 57% of Born Again Christians). A plurality (44%) believes that God "observes but does not control what happens on Earth."

Other quick facts...
Only 30% of those who identify themselves as Jewish are certain there is a God
Whites are less likely to believe in god than both African-Americans and Hispanics
The West USA is less likely to believe in God than the East, Midwest, or South
Those with limited college or HS education are more likely to believe than college grads
