What is so great about the movie Sideways?!? I don't get it people. First, I don't think it qualifies as a comedy. Second, is Virginia Madsen's 10 minutes of screen time enough to garner a Golden Globe nomination? I don't think so. I'm not saying she didn't do a good job, I just think she was hardly in the movie. I simply don't agree with people who keep talking about how great this movie is.

Hm, I laughed quite a bit when I saw Sideways. I think it is a great film but the hype surrounding it has been a tad overwhelming. I think the film critcs are suffering from groupthink.
sideways qualifies as a comedy ... more black comedy but still a comedy. some would say election was not funny at all but it really was. as for virginia madsen ... she was in the film for more than 10 minutes and sometimes it is not how long you are in the film but how effective you are. an example given by darth was jack nicholson's role in a few good men. he was in the film for less than 20 minutes but was very very effective. i think the film critics who love this movie find it relatable because they are all over-weight, middle age, balding white males ... so they see a hero in paul giamatti.
