monday's are so freaking hard for me :(

so i came back from SF yesterday. it was a good time, it was nice to see FTC even though i'm going to see him in two weeks for SPAIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. we went to the golden gate bridge, fisherman's wharf pier 39, union square and castro. it was all relatively quick since we only had one full day there. after the trip i realized i would really like to move up to SF but the cost of living there is insane :(. i'm just not a fan of LA or "the OC" (insert california song here) for many reasons. SF seems more like something i can vibe with because of the public transportation like the bart and muni, the huge asian community there, and the history behind the city. let's face it ... LA has some good history as well but it is too trendy and icky here and the oc i think is still fairly new. eh who knows all just wishful thinking.

oh in case you were wondering, i have been to SF before. i was actually taking a friend who had never been there before even though she lived in cal. her whole life BUT i found out while up there, there were some people from SF who have never been to LA. how strange is that. eh go figure.

as for your question hedwig .... yea forget the lines of communications with asian parents. i think it is really hard for most asian people esp. traditional type to be very open about their feelings because we are a pretty passive culture. you can't really be too hard on your mom because i'm sure she is looking at you thinking all this stuff as well. sometimes i get really bummed at how americaized i have become but then i remember this is freaking america ......

here's something i don't get. how come asians are so quick to assimulate into american culture yet hispanics and blacks still remain very rich within their culture. many hispanics i know still speak fluent spanish and keep up a lot of the old traditions. however some asians are so quick to make themselves seperate from their culture ... like many don't know how to speak their mother lanuage (like myself), are quick to pick up american or british type cultural behavior, have never been to any asian country and don't plan to go because either (i) it is too dirty (ii) too far or (iii) they are not interested and they can't speak the language, and mock other asians who are more fob like (even i do this one). what's the deal??
